Continuing Resolution 2024 Status. Washington — the house and senate approved a stopgap measure to keep the government funded for three months on wednesday, sending the legislation to president biden to stave off a shutdown. It is known as a continuing resolution (cr) and prevents a government shutdown that would otherwise occur if the fy2024 appropriations bills have not been enacted when fy2024 begins on october 1, 2023.

The senate voted 77 to 18 to approve it earlier in the day. Both sets of appropriations bills that were scheduled to expire under the cr have now been funded through september.
